  1. Yes it is very rare in horses. There is one Brindle horse in Indiana that was born this year and was brindle. The reason it happened was two twin fetuses (sp) where on fetus has absorbed the other. This means that the surviving twin has two different sets of DNA which is why they are so rare.

  2. In my entire life I have only seen one brindle horse.  It was in a barnyard by the side of the road.  They are almost unheard of.

  3. seen a few over the years.  mostly very faint lines so didn't think of as a color.

  4. yes it is the rarest. i have never seen or owned one, or even heard of anyone (like a friend...or a friends of a friends of a friend of a friends....etc.) having or seeing one. they are not common or more common in any specific breed. it can be inheritable but if a mare is brindle, her offspring will often be too.

  5. must be rare cuz i've never heard of it

  6. yes... extremely

  7. Yes, I've only heard about it once in a book. Sounds cool.

  8. Yes, it's quite rare. I've never seen a horse in person with that coloring-but it must be very cool.

  11. From what i have heard. it is extremely rare to find a true BRINDLE. some horses have some of the coloring atributes but not all, which does not make them a true brindle.

  12. it probably is rare

i've never heard of it as a horse color.

  13. i didnt know there could be brindle horses (i knew dogs lol) it could only be for 1 breed or perhaps only certain breeds which is why a lot of people dont hear of them. They probably are very rare

  14. it is some-what rare and it is beautiful too! it looks really pretty on cows as well!!

  15. i didn't even think it was a horse color lol

  16. Yes it it rare. Sometimes you will see it on just a horses legs. I saw an article that AQHA did on colors. I can't remember when. I think last year some time. I will try to skim through them tonight. I dont think there is a common area that they are located. I think there are many breeds that can come with the color. Sorry I have a lot of "I thinks" but I tried to help

  17. YES that is VERY rare i have never even saw a brindle horse and i have seen alot of horse in my live. Your very lucky to have a horse that color!!!

  18. It's not really rare but is probably more prevalent in some breeds.

  19. Brindle is vanishingly rare!

Not only that, but it's intriguing because it does not seem to be inheritable.  Even breeding two brindles together will not get a brindle.

It is thought to be brought on by environmental conditions in the womb, but what those are and how they affect the coloring is still a mystery.

It is uncommon in all breeds and all locations.

    Intriguing, isn't it?

  20. It's VERY rare.

"The brindle horse. Surely the rarest abberation in the equine world, no doubt left over from some primeval ancient camoflauge genetics, like the striping of primitive duns of today. The horse pictured here is (alas!) also grey, so the gradual whitening will eventually overcome his brindle pattern"

  21. Brindle in horses is extremely rare.  In only appears when a significant quantity of recessive traits erupt in a foal.  This means that a horse with a long history of grullo, perlino, cremello, buckskin or even palomino coloring in their lineage will show too much recessive traits.  Brindle horses are very pretty, but extremely rare.
