Is the computer/laptops IP address traceable from MSN messenger and how?

Im just wondering if the IP address is traceable from MSN messenger and how?,

Also how can i trace others IP address?

All IP addresses are traceable to the ISP.  But to find out who has that account a warrant is required, so the only people looking would  be law enforcers.

yer ya can like when your sending a file through msn if ya type netstat -n in cmd it comes up with a list of ip addresses and if ya know what ur doing ya can pick the one thats the persons that ur sending the file through msn

MSN Messenger runs off a client-server application. It's not possible to get an IP address through chat alone. But if you start a file transfer with the person and you use netstat you'll see their IP address from there.
