  1. No, they are right handed threads.

    Having trouble getting it off?

Be sure to remove the pulleys from the balancer first (if there are any).

If it is a manual transmission, put it in first gear, and have someone hlod the brakes down while you "pull the wrench". You will need a 1/2" drive socket (19mm maybe, could be bigger) and a good pull handle.

Another trick is remove the starter and stick a wedge, or bar into the flywheel to hold the engine.

There is also the "rope trick" but I would only use that as a last resort. What you do there is to remove a spark plug, and start a piston on its upward compression stroke. Then thread as much cotton rope into the cylinder as you can, then remove the bolt. The rope will stop the engine from turning. When you get the bolt loose, back-up the engine and remove the rope.

Another that I will use, but it can be dangerous is to put the wrench on the bolt with the handle towrds the ground, then hit the satrter motor. Stuff can fly, so get away!

Usaully an impact wrench will get it though.

  2. yes, im pretty sure it is

  3. I do not think that it is, however I have not removed one in quite a while, years actually.

  4. Shouldn't be. You will not be able to remove it with a normal ratchet. You will need an impact wrench.
