Is the craze of becoming a Civil Pilot dying out. Why ?

People nowady would much rather go drinking at the bars . watching football on TV, and go clubbing like disco bunnies. Only goofy flyers like you and I are still flying.

The craze for flying died out long ago (decades).

I would say that the reason flying isn't very popular today is that it's extremely tedious to obtain a license and fly (a great deal of regulatory paperwork, classes, training, testing, and exams), and it's extraordinarily expensive to fly—and the cost rises every day.

Most people aren't interested enough in flying to put up with the bureaucracy and cost.  If flying were as easy and as cheap as driving a car, it would probably be nearly as popular, but that will likely never be the case.  If anything, flying is increasingly becoming a domain restricted to professionals, with private pilots and general aviation being gradually squeezed and priced out of existence.

I'm not sure there's ever been a "craze" for personal flying.  It has been more popular at times than it is now.

On the whole, it comes in cycles, and it more or less follows the cycles of the overall economy.  There is less interest in personal flying now for two cultural reasons:

1.  Because of the mess that the current government has made of careers, personal earnings, and disposable incomes.  In a nutshell, people are less interested in flying because they can't afford it.

2.  Because of the terrible state of education and personal knowledge in the USA at present.  People have not been given the basic education that enables them to understand and be interested in technical subjects.  This is a bigger problem than any money problem, and harder to correct.

Most likely it will recover to some extent.  Nobody ever knows for sure what the future will bring.
