  1. To the 2 answerers above me,

How could Taiwan have the same as the mainland China has, it is just an island near Fujian?  Have you two been to China?  Do you know that we have 56 ethnics and have different customs from north to south, east to west?

    My answer to this question.

Culture revolution lasted about 10 years and it didn't ruin our culture that lasted over 4 thousands years.

  2. Hopefully the arts and appreciation of traditional arts is not lost. The point is to make these arts a relevant part of modern culture, and not just something for tourists.

Of course other aspects of Chinese culture, like footbinding,  the feudal system, etc will never be revived.

  3. Today china has nothing.yep,Taiwan is a land of freedom.

  4. Alot of the traditional culture escaped the cultural revolution, despite all its restrictions, and is today being embraced. However, much of the superstitious beliefs is largely being dropped by the current generation. I don't necessarily see it as being a bad thing, Chinese people are selectively keeping what they consider to be of value from the old culture, and getting rid of what is obsolete. No one is going to return to the days of rampant sexism, selling girls, foot-binding, etc. However, other customs like the traditional wedding, the red pockets on Chinese New Years, etc. or the traditional Chinese musical instruments are all still alive and well.

  5. The culture isn't lost - it is still alive and well in the real China - TAIWAN!!
