Is the cure for the common cold really orange juice?

IS there even a cure and is that it? I have heard rumors, but I don't believe them..... yet.

I dont think its a cure but the vitamin c in the oj helps your immune system so it can help you fight the cold before you get it and or after you get it.  but from what i have heard the cold is not bacteria so it cant be treated just pretty much have to let your body fight it off but theres plenty you can to to help your body, such as the vitamin C, antixodents, rest, plenty of liquids. So yes from my experiances the oj helps but isnt a cure.  hope this helps you.  I always drink lots of orange juice anytime anyone i am around alot gets sick, to help build my immune system up and it seems to help me from getting sick.  good luck.

No cure for the common cold but fluids help get rid of the cold faster.

Orange juice, contrary to popular belief, can and does cause serious congestion when you have a cold. It's not the best thing by a long shot. You're better off with hot lemon tea, elder flower and peppermint tea or any other diaphoretic that will make you sweat. Cayenne is a really helpful one, but it IS yucky, and hot. Any herb that will make you sweat will cause the illness to "break", but you must keep up a gentle sweat. Using these herbs, you can kick a cold in a day or less.

There is no cure for a comon cold.

That said, nurses and doctors agree that getting alot of Vitamin C(3000mcg/daily) has definite impact on ' preventing' colds.

The old wives tale about OJ is because it has high amount of Vit C..

Best way to prevent gettting or spreading a cold?

Good hand washing

Covering your nose when you sneeze or someone else does

Lots of sunshine

Avoiding crowded places during cold season

Lots of Vit C

A healthy body which builds a healthy immune system

Keeping use of chemicals at a MINIMUM
