I have been fish less cycling this tank for 2 and a half weeks now, the ammonia has spiked and gone down, the nitrogen then spiked and has now been on the way down for the past 2 days... How much longer do I have to wait?

  1. Until your ammonia and nitrites are 0 and the nitrates are 0 or 20 or 40ppm. Then your tank water will get cloudy and that's a sign that the cycling is done, its not because of dirty water. Goodluck!!!

  2. Once you have 0 ammonia, 0 nitrites and 20-40ppm nitrates, you're all done! :)

Keep testing, and wait for those levels.

Also, make sure you only add one or two fish at a time because your bacteria from your cycle will need to increase to handle the load of the fish. It will take them 1-2 weeks to adjust each time you add fish.

    Good luck. :)
