  1. I think so, at least partially.  The more God is taken out of life, the easier it is for people to do things like steal, rape, and murder without fear of damnation.

  2. a survey has been carried out and as i recall the educated

athe wise types about 85% did not believe in a diety.

  3. "when society has a belief that there will be a punishment in an afterlife and they will be judged by god after they die"

What about the belief that there will be a punishment in this life and they will be judged by people????

  4. No.

The fear of h**l didn't stop people from doing wrong before; those of us who don't believe in it now aren't responsible for all wrong in the world.

Since you don't say what "breakdown" you're referring to, it's hard to say anything more specific.

  5. not really sure, but i believe it is due more to the widening gap between the haves and have-nots.

  6. Nothing to do with God. Just a decline in law and order, family life etc. Being religous doesn`t necessarily mean a good person in society.

  7. A part of the problem has as its roots, in my opinion, the word often used but little understood, and called 'Respect'.

Respect for a god, if there were any, would have us each who hold respect, AUTOMATICALLY spelling it the correct way, with a 'Capital'  ''G'' ~ as in 'God'.

Feigning respect is the sign of the uncouth, the ill-bred and uneducated, the bad mannered, the disrespectful and brain dead hoards who ought to be first against the wall come ''The Revolution''.

    Rest in Peace.

    Sash.

  8. Communism in the 20th Century killed more.  But one thing that socialists/communists do is get rid of religion.  Social marxism is what is happening in America today, and has been for at least since the end of WW2.

  9. no....society   is  wholly  to  blame   ..cant  keep  blaming  or  using  god  for  our   failures  ..its  too  easy  to  blame   others , .pass  the  buck ,  were  does  the  buck  stop   ...here

  10. NO .mankind has been killing fellow man since time began.Be it in the name of religion/ethnic cleansing/oil....The middle east has been raging for centuries..africa likewise...none of this is Really about religion. Its about power.Mankind is imperfect ,thats the way it will always be....One half of the world convinced itself it had God on its side bringing civilisation, while it sent its soldiers around the world killng those who were weaker. We are all guilty of being what we are and a fictional character like 'god' has nothing to do with it.This social breakdown only affects those who were previously comfortable.A large part of this planet is made up of people who don't give a d**n about social breakdown, they just want to stay alive.

  11. I believe so,because if everyone lived by God's laws, then things would never be as they are ,have become, and going to be.

  12. I think, if you consider evolution, man is an animal.  Animals don't have any concept of morals and ethics.  These are idiologies that are impossed on people, the same as concepts about right and wrong.  There is no such thing as right and wrong in the animal kingdom.  Society imposes values, ethics and morals on its individuals, they do not come naturally.  A tool is needed to impose these ideas on people.  Religion, family and education have been used to impart these values.  Religion is a non secqutor many these days, families often end in divorce, single parenting or where both parents work, the child is left to find its own values.  Schools seem to consider enforcing ethical or moral ideology not their remit.  The end result is people are doing what comes natural.  Being self centred and putting yourself first is natural for most human beings.

  13. No.  I don't know what is, but I don't think that's the answer.  Have never believed in God. It's to do with lower educational standards, lack of motivation, non-attainment being rewarded.

  14. Don't see why it should be, do you?

Lack of belief in deities does not mean lack of morals or social responsibility.
