The game appeals to a certain type of board game player.  The game is basically a "dungeon crawl", where the players are moving their marines and fighting the various baddies that are in the scenario.  The combat is resolved using a set of dice which track hits and ammo, and the players themselves have player boards which keep track of their health, armor, and other attributes.

I don't have any personal experience in  playing the game, though when I did own it, I opened it up and punched all of the pieces and read through the rulebook.  We were setting it up to play, but poor planning had us bringing the game out at the end of a night of gaming, and by the time we were ready, it was ~1:30 a.m., and we were too tired to go forward.

  4. I've played it a couple of times...it's ok, but not great.

I preferred Descent - it's the same type of game, but a different genre (fantasy dungeon crawl type thing).

Doom just didn't do much for me.
