If so, when. Also, would it go into effect for all states?

  1. I heard that the government was trying to push this to become a law. Because, they think that if it is lowered to 18 younger people wont feel the presure to drink since they only would have to wait a few less years.

I think it should be. I mean we have 18-year-olds fighting in the war, but they can't drink?

  2. If you can vote and fight for your country at 18, you should be able to drink.

  3. Who knows! I would guess that some state legislatures may not go along with it if they do drop it.

I have a feeling if they do change it they will bring it back up again just like before

  4. In australia, drinking age is 18 and is rightfully so.

It seems as though your bloody foolish american government doesnt wanna be "unconstitutional" and wants to be "american!" and stick with the rules of our "founding fathers"

    who gives two sh*ts?

so in america your allowed to smoke deadly ciggarettes at 18 am  i correct, but you cant have a leisurely beer.

Your an adult, you can do whatever you want, but you cant have a beer.

    you can drive a car

but you cant have a beer.

    you can go to war

    no beer!

go to indo, there drink age is 13

  5. never will happen you have it backwards its thought to raise to 25

  6. no that would be ignorant. i think if they do decide to lower it....that women should drink at 18 and men at 21. men are totally not responsible.

  7. Good lord, I hope they raise it to 40.

  8. They're actually pushing it in some states. I go to school at OSU and the president of the school has gone on the news saying he supports lowering the drinking age to 18. Obviously anyone in favor of it supports it because they say kids will stop obsessing over it when they have a chance to purchase it legally. With the age limit at 21, its difficult to get and once they have a chance to buy it anytime they want, it will stop being that unobtainable object theyve been trying to get for so long. Theyll have their fun with it for a while after being able to buy it legally and then it will get boring to them. Thats how a lot of people I know do when they turn 21. The whole "forbidden fruit" part of obtaining alcohol is gone and that was half the fun in the first place. The legal age will never be 18 again though. There is too much statistical evidence against it. Alcohol-related deaths for people under the age of 21 have dropped 40% since the legal age was raised to 21 a few decades ago and it will be near impossible to fight that kind of proof. If your underage yourself and hoping to be able to legally buy alcohol soon, dont count on it. Getting trashed all the time will end up getting boring quicker than you think. Just wait till your 21.

  9. Here in Australia it already has been... and this has been the case for something like 40 years... yay

  10. "long shot"- be sure and read the article i listed; i think the key is for parents to introduce responsible consumption at a young age.  but that wasn't your question, here's the most recent talk about it:

  11. I don't know, but I hope not. The last thing we need is MORE drunk drivers on the roads.
