Is the duration of orthodontic treatment (braces) mainly based on how skilled the orthodontist is?

I know its also based on how bad your teeth are, but how about how skilled he is?

Certainly the skill of the Orthodontist and what appliances he is using will effect the outcome and end result. The timeframe however is more dependant on the patients physical reaction to treatment and complexity of tooth and jaw irregularities. Every patient reacts differently to treatment.  We have some patients that exibit extremely fast tooth movement and others that take much longer.

No. The duration of Orthodontic treatment is really only based on how bad the situation is.

My daughter wore braces for 8 years because of her mouth being so stubborn. She ended up having to have jaw surgery to move her upper jaw forward. She has a gorgeous smile now.
