Is the earth getting hotter or colder?

I'm confused! I thought the earth was becoming hotter due to global warming. Now I here people saying colder? Which is it? Or were they saying that the earth should be colder. Please help me understand!

They predict that although now it's hot, in about 2050 or 2100 we will face another Ice Age because the plants will take in thc CO2 (Carbon Dioxide). My opinion is that Earth will get to hot because there aren't enough plants or the Discovery Channel Team will block off way to much CO2 and Sunlight and we will all die because of either temperatures of -50 in the Winter or We will die in a century because the food chain will be disrupted. So the answer is hotter, then the unknown crisis with unknown heats. Any Questions?

The longer-term trend is expected to be hotter, but this year they think it is a bit cooler because of La Nina.
