In mass it's growing because of all the cosmic dust and meteorites that land on earth. Why do you think it would shrink though? Lol I know I'm meant to be answering your question... but yeah... why would the earth shrink? Anyone?

In answer to Andy, the Earth is losing its atmosphere! Only very very slowly mind. This is due to the fact that the energy of gas particles is not distributed evenly, so some will have more energy and be able to escape.

Overall I would say the Earth is staying at an almost identical size and mass, although it is probably getting more massive at a stupidly slow rate due to meteoroids etc.

It's maybe shrinking because its getting colder inside (magma solidifying) as, you know, heat expands bodies... But I'm not a geologist or the like..  &)

The Earth is "growing", but in other words, the Earth is getting more dense (more heavy) due to meteorites.

The more dense we become, the closer to the sun we get.

I wonder if we're experiencing higher temperatures because of this; almost as if we've looked past the idea of becoming more dense due to meteorites and such.

It is growing, possibly by about 1000 tons a day.  

1.  Did you notice how layers of the Earth are oldest at the bottom and newest on top?  This is because layers keep getting added on top.

2.  Like other people said, Earth keeps getting hit by meteors.

3.  Earth's gravity and magnetic field keep the atmosphere from escaping.

The Earth (the planet) Yes, both... It is still growing but it is also shrinking.

Mountains pop up in places or keep growing in others and the Earth is beeing eroded away...

The Earth (population) Both as well people die about every 30 sec. and are born every 12 sec. about. So we're doing both... but growing in general.

The Earth picks of serveral thousand tonnes of matterial every year, much more than we launch into space, so it's getting bugger.

the earth is neither shrinking or growing.... in its population yes it is growing, but thats besides the point.

the earth isnt shrinking or growing, but, the universe around it is expanding because it goes forever! the earth cant chrink or grow because of its atmosphere and magnetic field,  thats what pretty much holds it all together. make sense?
