Question:

Is the economy really not that bad or are we running ourselves into the ground?

If gas prices go up, food prices go up, and the greying of america forces people to hold off retirement, making it harder for new graduates to get jobs, how is there a rise in births?

Wouldn't it make sense that less people are willing to start a family in these conditions, thereby lessening the future burden by keeping the population and demand for high priced goods low enough that it can recover? Because even if it isn't happening now, if things do get bad enough that's what would or should happen. People just wouldn't be able to have kids at such a high volume and that would let things level out. Do you ever wonder why that is? Isn't it strange that the world works to regulate itself even on human levels where we don't have control on a wide scale like it would global warming, in both cases keeping humans in check as if we are the problem.

Does it all mean that the economy isn't actually bad or human beings are resisting logic and sending ourselves into failure? What is going on?

  1. WOW. I have a quote for most of you. A great man once said " Too often we enjoy the comfort of opinion without the discomfort of thought ".

  2. History repeats itself.

  3. Well what is going on in the USA is that if you are poor and dumb you can have as many babies as you want and the government will pay 75% of your bills. That is no joke!!! It is called section 8.

The government has trumped Dawrinisem and has messed up the natural order of things. I live in Mississippi, the highest teen pregnancy rate state in the nation, and I see it everywhere. It makes me sick!!! I have written both the state and national government asking them to stop sending my tax money to to stupid breeding machines!!!!!

I am 27, married with a full time job and my husband also has a full time job.  We don't have any babies because we want to be financialy responsible, meanwhile we know of girls 23 years old with 5 kids!!!! It is insane!!

Also Americans like credit cards. That is the other half of the problem.

  4. Its not that bad. This is the end of a bubble. The housing market just burst. Right before the housing market we had the internet bubble.. ect ect... back and back in time. We all got over it and focused on something else to occupy us.

Its not the end of the world... food prices go up and down as well as gas prices, and in the end everything will level out... it always does..

  5. The economy will naturally slow down. The thing is, when prices g up, people automatically go into saving mode. When they decide to save the money that they usually put into the economy the economy is going to suffer. Keep buying!! You want to stimulate the economy, keep buying. Save a bit, but ifg you stop putting into the economy it is only going to crash hard.

  6. I think that since America has been the top country for so long that once we have accually experienced a small change we believe it is the downfall of our country. This is just a small bump.

Gas price whent down like 25 cents since last friday!!!!

  7. it would make more sense if they put birth control in the water and had people pay for a pill to get pregnant, instead of paying for a pill not to.  That way abortion, welfare babies, anchor babies, and uneducated people not financially ready to support a family but popping them out by the dozen wouldnt be an issue.

Just because the economy is tanking doesnt mean people suddenly gain personal responsibility or common sense.  The US' intelligence is also on a sharp decline.  Did you see the story of the group of girl in the NE that made a pact to get knocked up by any means necessary?  They were all 15, a few of them slept w/ homeless people.  I blame abstinence only education for alot of it  (not the teachers,  the parents that dont want the evil word "s*x" used around their kids).

  8. It is not as bad as people make it out to be. Recessions or slow economic growth periods happen every so often. It works as a cycle. Everntually things will strengthen. Even with an economy this weak, I am still up 10% in the stock market!!!

    JNJ is a powerstock.

  9. People don't live forever.  And if people don't have enough kids now to replace the present population.  Then there won't be much of a society in the future.

People are the most important resource any society has.   Because without people there is no society.
