The eggs that you buy from a store are unfertilised similar to human "periods".They do not contain chicken embryos and will never become chickens. While some people may think eating chicken periods is reason enough to avoid them, it is considered a vegetarian food because it is not a slaughter product. While some might then argue that the condition for the egg laying hens are horrible, it must be also be considered that people are vegetarians for many reasons. animal welfare and rights issues are but one of many .

A potato is a root vegetable. It is a plant. I can't think of nor have I heard of any valid reason why it would be doubted as a food for vegetarian  diet.

Although eggs are not vegetables, they don't come from a dead animal either so they are acceptable to eat for those who choose to.  Are you seriously asking if potatoes are vegetarian?

an egg is an animal product as are cheeses.

a potato is definitely a vegetable.

If you are Vegan you probably don't want to eat eggs or cheeses.

Some other Vegetarians do eat eggs and cheeses.
