Is the end of October a good time to visit Cancun with children?

We are planning to go to Cancun Oct.22-30. But I am worried about the rain season, and also I do not know if the ocean is calm enough for children to swim. Can somebody give any advise?

I have been there 4 times in October most recent 07 and it has been great every time. Yes there is always a chance of rain during the hurricane season but the water was calm and it didn't rain anymore than usual. I have also been there 2 times in July and the only difference was that it was a little hotter in July but not by much. Have fun and enjoy

Yes, the ocean should be calm, prices low, vacancy high and there shouldn't be a lot of rain. (For Oct.-Nov. precipitation average is dropping around yearly median and temp. are still above normal.)

However June - November is the hurricane season and while the chances are dropping, October, is part of that period in fact Wilma in 2005 hit on October 21st.

I would still go if it were me, but I would keep my eyes peeled and riveted on the weather reports up to and including my departure and arrival in Cancun.

you will find temps in mid to high 80s in the day and low 70s at night....can be a little chilly.  You'll be out of hurricane season so you are looking at a decent time to take your family...plus the summer rush would be over and it will be before the x-mas rush

it's not the most ideal time of year due to hurricanes, but hopefully you can get some type of insurance for that???

The end of Oct. is getting to be the end of the hurricane season, but it is good to watch the news, as they said. There are different places to stay that have less surf for children. If you stay at the top part of the hotel zone, or in Puerto Juarez, where Blue Bay is, the surf is pretty calm- these are hotels like Aquamarina and Blue Bay Club. Blue Bay is a family resort. Farther down the hotel zone, the surf can get a little rough for little ones, you're right.
