Question:

Is the energy-saving setting on a dryer any good?

My mother-in-law bought me a new dryer for my birthday last week because ours was broken. It has something on it called automatic dry (it just dries your clothes and then senses when they are dry and turns off). There is an energy saving setting on it, but I am concerned that it won't dry as efficiently, or it will leave my clothes damp and I will have to use more energy to re-dry them or they could start to get mildew-y if I leave them in there. Does anyone know if the energy setting is worth it, or should I just use the regular automatic setting?

  1. Mine works wonderful in the automatic setting!  It doesn't dry them too dry or not enough.

  2. I would assume that's what it's for.. if it senses when the clothes are dry it will shut off. But if you're really concerned just make sure you're home the first time you try it out, so you can make sure it dries them properly. You actually aren't recommended to leave the dryer going while no one is home anyway.. something about a fire hazard.

Worst case scenario, you have to dry them for a little longer and you'll know for the next time to just use the regular dryer settings. You won't know how it works til you give it a shot, so go for it. My dryer doesn't have that exact setting, but it has an energy saving one and it's less hot than the regular one, but that's not exactly what yours is I don't think.. anyway haha,  I would assume it would work fine, but test it to see.
