  1. No, but there are some interesting rain shadow areas that seem to support tropical plants. Great Orme at Llandudno in northern Wales and the Scilly Islands off of Cornwall seem to support a semi-tropical habitat. The Gulf Stream is probably a major influence.


  2. No.  Just ask anyone who has tried to swim it.

  3. No.

    Technically, "tropical" would refer to areas with latitudes less than 23.4 degrees (N or S), while the English Channel is around 50 degrees N.  "Tropical" is also informally used to describe warm climates.  The English Channel doesn't qualify there, either.
