  1. Through out time we have changed the environment so that it suite us.We live off it, we need it for accomodation, food, transport and everything else. So yes without human beings it would be different what is now.

  2. Only in a very minimal short term way.

  3. Have we detrimentally effected the environment? Yes. Have we irreversibly  damaged it? No.

Humans, though plentiful, give themselves, ourselves, too much credit. We attribute ourselves far more power than we actually have. Even our nuclear and atomic weapons, though can sterilize an area, cannot damage it beyond repair. Eventually, it will heal itself, and continue on. We have terraformed this planet, raising concrete jungles in place of wooden ones, and yet, give the planet a couple decades, and you'd barely be able to tell we were here.

We have influenced the environment, and made nature adapt to us, but to think that we are all so powerful as to do permanent damage is ludicrous.

I realize I went off on a bit of a tangent, but I think it's relevant to your question.
