The media exaggerates everything.  The environment is changing and always has been.  There is nothing we can do about it.  If you want to help the planet, stick to things you can actually do something about like recycling, avoiding polluting water and the soil with chemicals that you buy, driving less, buying stuff that has less packaging etc.  Stop worrying about the "environment" as a whole and wether or not it is changing.  It's futile to worry about something that is unstopable.  Just take care of the people, plants, soil and animals around you.  That's enough.  If everyone did that, the earth as a whole would be better off.
