Is the environment primarily responsible for health?

It occurs to me that doctors cannot bestow health. Drugs simply supress, kill microbes, or mask symptoms, they cannot bring health. The body, the environment, these things are mainly responsible for brininging health, not science.

Surgery can bring some benefits, but won't help to maintain robust health in general. The Earth, the air, the sun, the water, these are the things that contribute to a healthy demeanor.....

  1. Don't forget proper nutrition. Did you watch the Sun. Night program on CNBC called, "Super Size Me"?  You are what you eat and   too many people are doing it wrong.

  2. Nope, we are responsible for our health; air, sun, water are factors only ( environment as a whole), it gives us good effects and bad effects too if you are exposed to it, for example sun help us in acquiring calcium in our body, but you can get cancer if you are abusing it, on the other hand I believe that they help us in our health as what I have read in a book and as what I have observed ..

  3. Oh..oh...

It looks like you invited the answers of the emotionally challenged....let me help as best as I can.

Environment is only a contributor to good health.  Health comes from eating wholesome good food, drinking pure water, keeping ones self clean and hygenic, keeping as far away from situations that invite disease as possible, and our bodies (wonderfully and fearfully made) do the rest.

Our bodies are failsafe, foolproof bio machines that regularly fix themselves of all manner of imbalances and maladies.  It also helps to keep a great attitude and laugh as often as possible.  Love fully, and indulge all of life's woes and pleasures, and live a full and happy life.  But we only get 120 years at the high end....best so far is 114.

  4. our welbeing and health (both physical and mental)depends entirely on the environment ,

the quality of Water ,Air and Food .as well as the climate

  5. ... and our mental health too.

I like what John Bennett said about the environment. The way we treat the environment is a reflection of the way we treat each other. And people in cultures that I've read about - that had a sustainable livelihood relationship with their environment - talked about respect for the environment and respect for human beings at the same time.
