  1. I believe its the bird..You can read all about the Raptor here..

    http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/s...

  2. regardless how would it do against the russian mig 31? or su-34 jet fighters?  If Bush is dying to find out (bad choice of words)  I think we all better take a crash course in Russian because our air force is obsolete

  3. I always thought it was named after the dinosaur, but now that you mention it, I guess it's named after the bird.

  4. Both.

The velociraptor is named for it's bird-like appearance....

  5. My guess is bird. Look at the other fighter jet names, F-16 Falcon, F-15 Eagle, F-18 Hornet (at least it's something that flies). So the Raptor would probably named after something with wings.

(Don't ask about the F-14 Tomcat)

  6. To the guy who said our air force is obsolete:

There was a test of 6 raptors vs 14 new MIGs.

In the end 10 migs were shot down, and four retreated.

The raptors had to refill on ammo.

  7. It's actually named after the bird.  Look up "raptor" in the dictionary and you'll see it's derived from the word "raptus," which means bird of prey.

  8. I would guess Bird

because the F-16 is the Falcon
