  1. As long as it's FEDERAL PELL GRANT from financial aid, & you fill out the FAFSA, yes, it's VERY legit. Fill out the FAFSA ASAP.

  2. You sound like me when I started going to college. Money is no joke and for something to sound so great, it has to be a scam. Let me tell you first hand it is NOT a scam. It is VERY VERY REAL. I am going into my 3rd year of college and thanks to Pell Grants , I haven't had to pay a penny, and I have even gotten some extra pocket money in return. I don't know if you have filled out the paperwork or not, but it is easy to do. I recommend you do it. It is great and helps you out a lot! I hope this helps and eases your mind!

  3. It was a scam for me.  I took a full medical course administrative and clinical.  The class was 8 months.  After the class was over I recieved a diploma..which I found out the hard way it doesn't mean a d**n thing.  When I tried to get a job I couldn't get my foot in the door.  Most jobs I needed to be bi-lingual....in the lower class areas..in fact the only qualification was to be bilingual.  when I went south to the higher class American neighborhoods... they told me the diploma didn't mean a d**n thing.. I had to have a certificate or a degree.  I am still paying back the loan and there is no way to get out of it...I also found out the class was not accredited in the state of California.  So I would say unless your rich...try to get scholarships, go to a community college which is 20x less expensive then those quickie 8 month course classes. Or they may have regional occupational schools which are usually free and may cost a little for certain classes for books and other materials..Don't ever get stuck with a government loan it is a scam....

  4. Federal Grants are very real. But you must make sure that you are obtaining it through the Free Application for Federal Student Aid aka the FAFSA. The Federal grant is offered as the Federal Pell Grant and is based on your EFC (expected family contribution). A low EFC.. 0 qualifies you for the most grant money. As soon as you fill out the Fafsa (www.fafsa.ed.gov) and put your school code, then your school will package you an award based on the schools cost of attendance and your need.

It's a long process, but well worth it because Grant money, is money you do not have to pay back to the government!!
