  1. nothing can simulate surfing. you're not gonna learn to surf from anything other than the ocean and other surfers. you're sure as h**l not gonna learn to surf from yahoo answers.

honestly, the only reason most people come to the surfing section is to laugh peoples questions.

  2. I tried it but it was a bit different.  Basically, it's a standing wave with the water moving up a preformed frame.  I guess the takeoff was smilar.  You need to make tight quick turns on a very short board rather then throwing your weight into a drawn out turn.  I will say that if it is the only break in town, go for it.

  3. In a word...No.

Sd is right.  Nothing can compare to the ocean.  It is a constantly changing, unstable medium that requires strength, speed, timing, balance, agility, and body control to try to harness a fraction of its power and use it to rip.  Surfing is truly a sport like no other.

  4. geeze, why so negative about Kepeli?  SD and B Money are right, there is nothing that compare with the ocean in all it's beauty and power.  Surfing is a sport, that I am proud to say that both girls and guys compete on an equal level.  =P
