Is the foam layer on Guinness really all natural?

I am often amazed by the thickness of the foam on a glass of Guinness. Is that the result of natural processes, or do we have some chemical magic going there, these days?

  1. no

  2. Well, I am hoping natural.   Just as natural as how you can get less head naturally in a glass.......first rinse the glass in cold water (don't wipe it out)before adding the beer.  The head will be greatly reduced compared to adding beer to a warm dry glass.     All natural and you get more beer too.

  3. Guiness has nitrogen gas in it instead of CO2.  This is why at most bars when you order a Guiness draft the foam layer is like other beers.  Some bars have the Nitro system.
