Is the former site of Ebbets Field a safe area?

I'm planning to visit New York in a few years and although I grew up as an LA Dodgers fan, I never deny the fact that my team came from New York...specifically Brooklyn, which after doing some research, is a working-class blue-collar neighborhood, which is somewhat like Los Angeles. I was hoping to see the former site of Ebbets Field, which is now an apartment complex. Is this a very safe area, or is it very much crime-ridden?

  1. Ebbetts Field no longer exists.  There is nothing to see.  It is in a part of Brooklyn called Flatbush.  The part of Brooklyn that Ebbetts Field was in was deteriorating in 1958 when the Dodgers moved.  The Dodgers wanted to move to another part of Brooklyn, but the city would not provide subsidies for building a new stadium.  When you plan to visit New York, try to time your visit with the Dodgers visit to the Mets new Citi Stadium in Flushing, Queens.  If you want history in New York, take the train upstate to Cooperstown.  Forget the foray to Flatbush.

  2. I don't think it is a wise place for a newcomer to NYC to go

  3. It is not a very safe place to visit.
