  1. In may cases, it will be comparable to brand names, and may be even the same food just packaged under a store label.  It will usually be cheaper, and sometimes you can definitely tell a difference in quality (generic brands not quite up to the same standard).  Only way to know for sure is to try it out and see if you can tell the difference.  If you can't, it's probably worth the savings.  If you can, then clip coupons or watch for specials and cut corners another way.

I typically buy store brands when they will be a secondary ingredient in a recipe, not when I will be showcasing them on their own, with few exceptions.

  2. Actually its fresher cause it goes from plant to store directly.

  3. Actually yes some generic brands do taste better.

  4. depends on what it is....I only use helman's best foods mayo--most everything else is generic brand.

  5. usually they spend a lot of time making the generic so it tastes like the name brand , my mom is a food scinetist and has worked on making generics she said that a lot of the time they are able to work with someone who worked on the name brand so most of the time its pretty much the same

  6. It's the exact same thing.

  7. I have actually found that a lot of generic food brands taste as good as the name brand....especially Soda's.

the only product that I have found that is not a good as the name brand is Raisin Bran...other than that its all good.
