To say that it is half empty presupposes that it was once entirely full.  The glass is half full unless otherwise specified.

if it was full from the beginning, then some one drank half of it or spilled/emptied half of it. it's half empty.

i guess it all depends on your look on life and if you are optimistic or pessimistic. for me it depends what mood i am in. you can look at it either way. everyone is different but right now the glass is half full :]

what does it matter whether its half full or half empty be thankful you got a half a glass of anything, in other words i choose half full cause its better than the worst and it being empty, its half full be grateful that we even got a glass it could have been a plastic cup or worse a disposable empty cup.

It's completely full. One-half is filled with air, the other half is filled with liquid. Assuming it IS a liquid in the glass.
