Clearly the government, as usual, is lying to the people about UFOs, extraterrestrial contacts, and reversed-engineered top-secret technology, too much reliable but indirect evidence for it to be otherwise. Ours, and the world's governments, think nothing of lying to the people, claiming that the truth would cause a world-wide panic. When, in fact, it is the government(s) that would be in the panic if the people found out what was really known about life in the universe. Knowledge of other life in the universe would change everything. Governments do not like that degree of change.

I have personally seen official government documents (not the link shown below) describing a systematic procedure that the government would put into play should the country come under attack from space by UFOs.  It makes one wonder, if there's been no government contact with the UFO phenomena, no evidence, why would they even waste their time considering a scenario where they would have to defend the country against an attack from outer-space?

Just like with human cloning and with unwitting human experimentation involving remote mind control technology, the government cannot afford to come clean and tell the truth. They are in far too deep for that.  If the people knew the atrocities that world governments have carried out on human being with their black-op projects and programs, the people would demand total reworking of the government(s) from top to bottom and developing new strategies for managing world affairs.

To create a better world, people need to demand absolute honesty from business and government. Nothing should be held back from the people for any reason, in my opinion.

it's actually a federal law that says "if life beyond earth is discovered it MUST be classified" or sumthin like that BECAUSE if we found out that there is it would cause a melt-down in civilization

I agree entirely with Ken E. People seem to think that, just because they think the US government might be hiding something, that all governments are hiding something. It is ludicrous to assume that all governments have the objective of keeping the masses calm by not telling them about UFOs.

If UFOs do exist (which is unlikely), any second rate leader in a developing country would jump at the chance to be seen with them, just to increase his power.

How many governments are there in the world?  If aliens fly for years to get to the Earth or make some kind of effort to get here, why would they only go to one country?  There are more than 110 governments that potentially would have to keep this secret and in the years since the first big UFO flaps in the 1940s all these governments have been changed by election or revolution.  Why would not an incoming administration not decide to make what they knew public specially if it was a revolution?

That's such a controversial question. Idk how to do this, but this is my opinion.

UFO doesn't always mean an alienship. It simply  is an unknown flying object. That means it could be a meteor, a bird seen from too far away, etc.

However, if there WERE ship of the sort, and the government DID know, WHY would they tell us?

Obviously if an alien ship could visit us, they would have to have superior technology. Meaning a possible threat to our lives. Also meaning that we possibly might have no defence against this sort of thing. What would they say, "We all might die due to a possible invasion"?

That would cause mass turmoil and chaos across ALL civilizations. No one would know how to defend themselves against a technoligically advanced superior being.

In the end, its best NOT to know. Its best to NOT worry.

It is possible as long as modern physics is wrong, (which scientests are finding probable).  Modern science tells us its likely impossible for inter-gallactical travel, (since galaxies are thousands, millions, and billions of light years away!) Any intelligent life would likely die.  It would only be reasonably possible if  they were within our own galaxy, (then it travel is within a lifetime or more) or their would need to be some unknown technology.  

  However, due to the scientific communities fear of criticizing Einstein and his theories on General Relativity, we may never know.  Maybe within your life-time some rogue scientist will disagree with Einstein and be able to affirmitvaly prove him wrong.  If it is proven then maybe, just maybe UFO's have visited us.

The way I see it, as long as the public insists that the government is hiding info about UFOs, the government is happy to keep the belief going. This way the military can test new aircraft in actual flight. If the still secret aircraft is spotted by the public, the public will insist that what they saw was extraterristial  in origin - a good thing for the military since they are not considered in the matter and their secret aircraft remains secret.

  This game works well for all other countries with developing millitaries, even for those not-so-advanced countries where too much attention towards the government is not such a good thing unless it's steered in the right direction, say from outer space.

  Hiding info on UFOs? NO. Hiding info on experimental aircraft? Definitely!  Mr Q

Have you EVER seen a government do anything in a reasonably efficient and competent manner? No?

The why do people think that not just one government, but governments all over the world, for many years, with multiple changes of government in each country, often through less than peaceful means, could possibly keep such a secret?

The governments of the world can;t even agree on how to deal with earthly concerns without getting into shouting matches and sometimes shooting matches, and you think they could keep this one quiet/

THAT, my friend, is even less likely that the idea that aliens could (and would) fly for hundreds or thousands of years just to kidnap hillbillies and probe them.
