  1. it's irresponsible to hold a government entirely responsible for its people's financial well-being.  no one owes anyone a living.  in a democracy, everyone is supposed to pull his own weight; otherwise, he'll be a burden to his fellowmen.

what most people fail to see is that running a government costs money.  that money comes from taxes.  it comes from the working class.  to give good service, a government needs resources, too.

sadly, in the philippines, it is the poor who demand too much from the government in terms of free education, health care, etc.  however, they are the very ones who don't pay taxes.  they beget more children than they can afford to care for and send to school.  and worst of all - they complain the most!

the unfortunate ones are those who truly work to move the country forward.  if you look at the middle class, they only have a child or two.  they also marry late.  but what about the poor?  they're just lazy.

it is true that there are corrupt elements in the philippine government, but to say that it is entirely corrupt is wrong.  our government systems have not totally disintegrated.  they may not be perfect but they still work.  look - we have not reached a state of anarchy.  only the pessimistic media like to say otherwise because the public thrives on negative news.

if the poor want to live better lives, maybe they should start family planning first and that includes not getting married or having kids before they can afford it or have found stable jobs.

...and quit blaming anyone for not doing anything if you haven't done anything yourself...

  2. No! The reason they want us to vote for all of these bills..health care...education...medi-caid...is because they know the more we ask for help... the more we need them and the more control they have!

The US needs to wake up...I have been a democrat all my life ...because nobody ever explained this to me until now...The world is watching us and we need to start practicing what we preach...individual freedom!

  3. Yes, absolutely.

  4. Government employees are employed by the government and I guess are just like every other working Filipino.

Whilst the government may take steps to eliminate poverty, real elimination only comes when people choose to help themselves and not rely on government subsidies all the time.

That said and done, I'm not from Philippines, so it's only a personal thought :)
