Is the govt. encouraging cricket at the cost of other sports?

No, I don't think so, b'coz Cricket was not given much importance when Hockey was in full swing. The change has been due to sponsors & fans. Sponsors started spending money like water just for cricket & by chance even fans got increased, hence people are thinking that Cricket is given more importance than other sports. There is no such step-motherly treatment to other sports, if at all it was there, then the Government would have changed its national game from Hockey to Cricket.

govt is not encouraging cricket, but at the same itme its not encouraging other sports which it could.

these sports can put india up in medal tally in olympics and other games

govt can make efforts for promoting other sports..

All the promotion of cricket is being done by the ECB, no government funding at all.

Indian government is not encouraging any sports. They are encouraging corruption in all walks of life.
