Is the growing English community in France even getting drunk and causing trouble in Lourdes?

  1. I didn't know that and my family lives one hour away from Lourdes, this is such a shame. I'm not very religious but if these kids want to party they should go to Ibiza instead of Lourdes. It's appaling!


  2. I have just come back from Lourdes having served as brancardier, with the Middlesbrough diocese, and I was unaware of any "trouble" stemming from the English community. After a shift, I will grant you, we would have the odd drink but to suggest this led to loutish behaviour is an inaccurate accusation. If it is true that there have been examples of English causing trouble in Lourdes then I for one would be appalled. However, what I'm ultimately trying to say is that in highlighting the troublesome minority, it is unfair to tarnish the name of all English pilgrims and volunteers who work hard and are earnest in their duties.

  3. No, to be honest the people who actually move there don't tend to fall into this category.
