I know everyone hates it because it doesnt give Proper space for your hamsters and such but would it be a good addon for anothe cage?

Also is it actually proved that hamsters like to pee in corners?

Because I know for a fact with the animals around here. Is that No animal makes a completly square hole so that they can pee in a corner.

  1. I hate the Habitrail Ovo as a cage. And why should I spend on the Ovo as an add on cage when I can get better options with a bin, which is what I have currently done. I have attached a bin to my existing cage and it gives thrice the amount of space to my hamsters for the same size as the ovo. I would never go in for the ovo - either as the cage or as a add on.

Yes, hamsters are such well groomed and clean animals that they actually have a corner in the cage where they pee. Once you find that area, it is very easy to clean since you can change the bedding only in that area twice a week for a non-smelly cage and do the proper cage cleaning once a week. Of course when you have more than one hamster in the same cage, it is difficult to locate the corner but when you have one hamster to one cage, you can easily observe that the hamster uses only one area in the cage for its peeing purpose.

  2. um...what?

  3. hey! yes, that set up should be fine for the hamster. they need more room than the habitrail gives as you said. for the pee in the corners thing, mine always did and do. i have my current hamster litter trained so he goes in his little "potty". it works great. i would try litter training. it is really easy. i bought my potty and litter at petsmart but you can use something like a plastic lid and some bedding. all you have to do is put it where he usually goes and stick some of the wet stuff into the lid. after he starts using it, place the lid where ever you want it. if he doesn't catch on the first time, just add a little more "used" bedding to it. he'll get it eventually.

  4. yeah, if you add it on its a good cage.

  5. As an add-on, yes, it also seems to be a good cage for baby dwarf hamsters, although definitely not for any full-grown hamster. Add-on cages are great, there's so much more to explore.

My hamsters never peed in corners, they would just go wherever they felt like it. And I've had 20+ hamsters... I dunno why there's that myth about the corners. It doesn't apply to every hamster. Silly people. =]
