Is the headgear going to hurt?

My ortho said that to fix my overbite I have to wear like headgear. Is that really painful and am I going to be able to even shut my mouth. He said I only have to wear it when I go to sleep? SOMEBODY HELP

I have wore headgear. It's only really painful for the first few weeks. Take a Tylenol before bed. Try laying on your pillow laying up and not pressing against the side of your face. It'll be okay. Usually you don't have to wear it too long and you get used to it. Nobody will know you wear it.

you may be able to, but ask your ortho. i don't really know because i do have braces, but i don't wear head gear.

The headgear doesn't hurt when you wear it.  You'll just feel uncomfortable sleeping in it.  

P.S.  I shouldn't tell you this, but I am - I had headgear and I never wore it.  My overbite fixed itself just fine with the braces.  But don't listen to me cause I'm giving bad advice.  (Stupid headgear...LOL).
