Is the headlight beam pattern supposed to spread evenly?

I have noticed that no matter what bulbs I have (I now have some PIAA bulbs that have an output of 110w), it seems like there are still a few dark spots in the light beam pattern. I have some aftermarket projector lights that I bought from eBay, and I'm assuming it is probably because they are low quality projectors. The light beam pattern from my headlights seems to light the road in a "W" form.

Of all of the lights that I have seen they will spread out somewhat evenly and I have never seen one that will show a "W" pattern...
