  1. Not yet, but they are declining in numbers because of over-fishing for bait. They are also especially important to migrating shorebirds, which feed on the crabs' nutrient-rich eggs on their (the birds') trip north.


  2. At least as of last year, Florida had an abundance. However, it wouldn't surprise me, since they are very sensitive to water temperature changes. Or perhaps the heavy pollution.

    I know them well because I accidently put one of their spikes into my big toe................yep, painful.

    Hope their not at risk though.

  4. The horseshoe crab I am not sure if it is endangered but it has been dropping in population. The birds in South Africa are taking their eggs away before leaving to another place far away.
