I don't mean morally. I mean physically and mentally are we more capable or less capable as a whole than we were in the past.

  1. less capable

let ancient people to study our knowledge , they can make a difference

  2. i dunno about physically but mentally yes, people don't think anymore there are so many idiots out there now its seems like half the people in the word can't think rationally anymore. its mostly because of tv, video games and computer.

  3. we are less capable of doing anything involving excersise.

    were lazy.

  4. If you mean is humanity doing the opposite of "evolving", the answer is no. Science has no record of any species "devolving into a former  species it already evolved FROM.

What happens is a species fails to adapt to the changes in it's environment and eventually becomes extinct. We may eventually evolve into a NEW species, or die out altogether, but we will not become Australopithecus aferensis once more.

The more accurate scenario would be if Homo sapiens cannot find a solution to the Global Climate crisis and cannot adapt to the new conditions created by it, which would mean humanity,as a species  will not be able to survive in the new Global Climate, and will eventually become extinct unless we adapt to it.

Either way, that would take millions of years.

What you are speaking of is merely a cultural and historical challenge, affecting our societies and culture, but not affecting us as a species, just how we live as a species.

These cultural and social crises have occured hundreds of times, at least, in the realtively short history of humanity, and they have resulted in changes in governments and societies and cultures, but not a change in the human species itself, just how we do things.

  5. It depends on what sense you ask the question. If you mean "are we becoming more stupid?" then I would say this is true in western societies and rapidly emerging economies. If you mean it is a Darwinian sense, then the answer is no since evolution is an adirectional process (i.e. without direction). Using the term 'devolving' sounds like a regression, which implies a direction.

What is really happening is that we are adapting to the different stimuli that we as a society have created. This is pretty mind numbing and therefore favors individuals with a certain upbringing or neurological predisposition. That type of person happens to be one who doesn't question, follows, is easily swayed, corruptible and unable to think for themselves. This is a recipe for delinquency and retarded mental development.

It is a fascinating subject and the questions that need to be asked are what exactly are the stimuli that are having this detrimental affect that polarizes society. Research is ongoing and there are many interesting ideas out there. Keeping asking those questions!

  6. I'd have to say yes haha. We're growing incredibly dependent on technology.

But then again there are always those super human freaks whose genes must be passed over for the sake of humanity. GO MICHAEL PHELPS HAHA
