  1. the water and Ice are both safe on Cruise ships. they use distilled water.

  2. Yes, the ice and water on ships are perfectly safe.  In port, well that's another situation, and in many ports of call, you should drink only bottled drinks without ice.  To clear up some misconceptions in the above answers, the water is not distilled.  It is desalinated, and that is only in the newer ships that have a desalination system.  All ships pretty much take on potable water when they replenish supplies and that is as good a quality as the water from the source they are getting it.  It is still perfectly safe to drink.  Newer ships take water from the ocean and get the salt out.  The desalinated water is the water that is most likely purer and safer than most tap water.

  3. It was safe enough when I cruised last Feb...all the frozen drinks I had and no ill effects. I would imagine they wouldn't take a risk in using water for cooking or drinking that might make the passengers ill...too much money is at stake.

  4. i guess it is

  5. You will not find available water purer than on cruise ships.  I would venture to say the water you now drink from the tap in your own home is far more contaminated than any reputable cruise ship.

Why?  Because cruise ship water is distilled water generated on board.  Same for the tap water, showers, and those ice cubes in your Cuba Libra.

The biggest hazard on cruise ships is viral infection.  Airborne viruses are carried through the ventilation ducts into staterooms.  Viruses are deposited by unwashed hands in the buffet lines.  And close by people are coughing and sneezing.

So drink the water, but don't breathe the air (just kidding).

  6. You can't believe everything you hear.  The ice is fine.
