  1. Inmates can become parts of many subcultures while incarcerated. There is the general population which then breaks down into many different areas, groups, parties and communities. Ethnic groups can form and be broken down into their own races, cultures, tradition etc. Lifestyle cultures can also be defined while in prison. Each having their own style of "rules" and or governing body underneath that of the facilities. I recall watching a documentary some time ago, it was very interesting, makes one very grateful to be outside of the criminal system.
