It is tidal, but the salinity (salt content) is very low.  With all the recent Thunderstorms there more trash than salt.  The salt content increases as you go down the bay to Norfolk, Va.  The actual numbers change daily.  Right now near Fort McHenry it's 0.5 ppt,  out near popular island it's about 15ppt.Typically in the Atlantic its 25 to 35 ppt.  notice the decimal point before the no. in the harbor.  It's  interesting that there are thousands of Menhaden, a salt water fish that are in schools all around the marina, there 5-7 inches long but growing fast.

  3. technically its brackish water.  a mix of fresh and salt water that is found in estuaries.

    it's also incredibyl polluted.
