Is the isopod's response to moisture best classified as kinesis, or taxis?

  1. It depends.  What did you observe?

    If your isopods moved directly to their preferred habitat, then that is a taxis, or an oriented movement.

    But, if your isopod ended up in their preferred environment by randomly moving around faster when they weren't at all close, slower when they were closer, and nearly stopping when they were in their preferred environment, then that is kinesis.

    In my experience, terrestrial isopods generally exhibit kinesis.  But, you should be answering this question based on the results you observed.
