Is the joker very important in poker?

since some people say it's a wildcard. Does it mean that some people would prefer a joker card than like an ace?

people throw the joker away. it not apart of any game.

It depends on the type of poker game you're playing.  Poker 'purists' turn their noses up at that very thought of using the joker as a wild card (Meaning you can make it any card you want - not necessarily an ace, which does you no good when you have 6-7-8-10 and need a 9 for a straight).  Many games do not allow using the joker, but many do.
