  1. Give the handshake when you arrive for the interview and after the interview is over....not during the interview.

Big difference between a firm handshake and a bone crushing handshake.  Be firm not a cold, limp fish shaker.

Practice with a friend or family member.    This is a skill you will need for life.

  2. Firm handshake, yes.  Killer claw, no.  Also make sure that your nails aren't razor sharp.

  3. Firm but not painful.

  4. You definitely should have a firm handshake, but not a "kung-fu grip."  Somewhere in the middle.

  5. firm, but not hurtful, eye contact and make sure your palms are not sweaty.  Remember to get business card of all interviewers so that you can send a thank you note, this can make or break the interview.  Send the thank you letter or note immediately, like within 24 hrs.

  6. There is a difference between firm and too tight. A firm handshake comes from having a strong hand and giving a solid, locked handshake.
