Is the lake district typically a very wet place?

does it rain more there than in other parts of northern england?

I am from the lake district ( Cumbria ) and yes we do get our fair share of rain but no more than other parts of northern England. When th weather is good  the lake district really is the most beautifull place to visit, why not give it a try.
