  1. Yes it is Greek in origin. In fact it comes from Efksinos Pontos, one of the most original greek areas.

    Most of the names ending to "-ides" are from Pontos, and they are Greek 100%.


  2. It is possible. But there are also other possibilities, for you have to think of the surroundibg areas of Greece and hisotry. Hilarides could be a name from ancient Rome, or even perhaps Phoenicia. The other possibilities are the ancient Macedonians, Egyptians, Greeks (as u stated), Ancient Albanians, The ancient Turks (Anatolians), or even possibly Eruscan.
