Is the liberal bias on full throttle at the NY Times the reason they're failing & FOXNEWS is succeeding?

If the NY Times and the rest of the failing liberal biased media was to become fair and balanced like FOXNEWS would that result in FOXNEWS not being so successful?

  1. I think you are mistaking cause and effect.  If the New York Times were failing, it would be because they are largely a print-based medium.  In general, print-based medium is becoming less popular as we increasingly obtain information from the Internet and demand free access to information.  The New York Times and other print-based media outlets will need to come up with new revenue generating strategies to survive in the cyber-world.

In my view, FoxNews couldn't be further from "fair and balanced".  You are correct the New York Times has a liberal bias, but FoxNews has a decidedly conservative bias to it.  I think this is to be expected.  All of us have our opinions on subjects, so it should not surprise anyone that these opinions influence what and how we chose to report.

  2. Foxnews "success" has nothing to do with fair and balanced.

    Its all about entertainment.

When you poll foxnews viewers, they consitantly are misinformed on current events

  3. Robert's right to a point.  Print media in is decline.....but it's mainly their own doing. Reporting their spin on things intead of the facts.   All of you who say fox isn't fair and balanced,  you're not really objective enough to be able to distinquish between actual news and political commentary shows.  Nobody said O'Reilly or Sean are objective.  They get paid lots of money to give their opinions.    Just like Alan Colms does, whose a hard leftist.  That is,as someone already said,  entertainment.

When they say fair and balanced, they're talking about anchors who report the news.  They report what happened.  It's up to you to decide what you think.  They're number one, pure and simple, because they give the most accurate and up to date infomation, period.  Unlike any of the big three networks, or CNN, MSNBC or CNBC.  I can name you a thousand things reporters from any of these networks have said to show their bias.  How about when Diane Sawyer interviewed Ken Starr during Slick Willies little ordeal?  Her first question to him was, "How could you?'' Even in her whiney little voice the bias was obvious.  Or  when Dan Rather introduced Bush's state of the union address the first time, he said, "No matter what you think of him, he's still our President". Pretty slanted, I never heard a President introduced like that before. No bias there, huh?   From Clinton's inpeachment to Al Gore wacky views on the environment, it's no wonder the liberal media is failing.  Why don't you hear about gun control anymore?  Because everyone got the word is a failed issue.  In other words, the American people's view is contrary to the left's view, so let's just shut up about it for now.  Oh wait, then  there's that pesky supreme court, who just confirmed what most of us know, that the Second Amendment gives the individual the right to own a gun.

I will agree that of the political commentary shows on fox, most are conservative,  That's strictly economics, more people want to watch these shows.  It isn't like Rupert Murdoch  is paying O'Reilly out of his pocket just to keep him on the air because of his opinions. It's market driven. He makes them money. Just like conservative talk radio.  You think sponsors keep Rush on just because they agree with him?  h**l no, he stays on because he makes them money.  So get off the kick that Fox is biased.  They report the news as it happens.  As far as political shows, they have what sells.  Look over the past few years.  Fox has had shows that didn't make it, both conservative and liberal.  They keep what makes them money.

  4. Fox News "Fair and Balanced" ... Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha...

  5. The rag sheet called the Times is failing because the population as a whole is moving more to the right, whereas the times is far left it makes FDR look like Reagan. As for the success of Fox news its because more and more people are turning away from the liberal networks, NBC, CNN, and MSNBC.
