I'm curious as to whether anyone on here, from all over the world knows someone who has won a major prize? Surely through all of our networks of people we know, and all the people they know, we should know quite a few people who have won the jackpot at some time?

  2. i'm not sure but i remember one time i saw this family on the news who won like $25 million or something.

  3. In Michigan it is real as we have had three big winners in my job..one a million dollar and one $16 million (a young single guy) and a retired guy got the First Michigan Millionaire Lottery back in the early 70's

it is real but the odds of dying from getting killed by a falling coca nut is better then winning the LOTTO

Falling coconuts kill more people then lighting..this is a fact

  4. It seems like they are a scam, but many reputable although bloodsucking organizations are quite aware of the winners and immediately send philantheropous solicitations to them.

  5. my uncle won a million $$ playing lottery - im not sure if it was a "governement endorsed" one though-it was a limited time-cant think of the name but they only sold I think a couple thousand of tickets & each ticket was like 50$

  7. A few years ago, the bus drivers at the local school won something like 15 or 25 million all together.  Each week they all put in money to purchase tickets and won one of the drawings.  The lottery makes a lot more than they give away, but they still give away a lot.

  8. the most i ever heard of was my friend winning $1000.

  9. the lotto is some thing that continues to take money, but to make it right they let some one win sometimes

  11. Somebody wins, but somehow they end up losing it all...(Hmmm) See "Curse of the Lottery" on E!.

  12. NO, not a scam, but the odds of winning are about 15-60M to one. You have a better chance of being hit by lightning in a snowstorm.

  13. If your from the United States, and there are 100 major winners every year (just a guess), and there are 100 million people in the country, what do you think the chances are that you'll know someone who has won.  Most of us don't even talk to our neighbours anymore, so we wouldn't know if they won or not.

  14. If you win a jackpot you have to pay about half of what you won to the government for taxes. its really retarded.

  15. ...I have personal knowledge of "2" winners...    the chances are a "ba'zillion" to "one"... but somebody wins...

  16. the lottery is real...it has been the downfall of many, it is a tax, especially for people that generally avoid them.

  17. There are state sanctioned lotteries in all fifty states and several multi-state lotteries (ex. Powerball) all of which are legitimate. I personally know two people who have each won powerball for multi-million dollar jackpots. You should be aware, however, that just because these lotteries are legitimate does not make your chances of winning any better.
