I bought this computer (at a local store) a few weeks ago and I want to upgrade the graphics card. To do this I need to upgrade the power supply...but from the customer support people at HP they say that the power supply is mATX. Judging by the pictures on Newegg and some forum people, they say that its ATX. Any help here?

If it IS mATX, can I replace it with an ATX power supply without a fitting problem? Also, would I be able to fit a Radeon HD4850 in that computer? (there is a picture of it's innards inside)

Thank you!

  1. I'll go with it's a Mid-Tower case, and a Micro-ATX form factor motherboard. M-ATX form factor power supply? Looks like an ATX power supply to me. Plus the fact that reviews from people who have bought it,(On the Newegg link you gave), indicated they were running a high-end dedicated graphics card! No small power supply will do this, much less fit!

    Customer support said this? Sheesh!

I guess the paragraph above answers you last question, huh?

(Read the reviews) (By the way. Did you know the ATI Radeon 4850 takes a 6-pin PCI-Express power cable? Make sure the new power supply has one. Most do, but some DON'T! Did you also know it requires a 75 watt 12 volt power rail? That's less amps used than a 100 watt light bulb! Sure you need a larger power supply, or have you been listening to sum 'techs'? The 12v power rail amp size needed, is 5/8th's of an amp. (.625 amps) This ain't no Nvidia card! Uses WAY less power. (I'm a Nvidia user and fan, by the way. But I tell it as I see it!)
