  2. Being a seasonal Horticulture crop, to be precise there is no proper management. All is being dictated by the middle men. Due to ill literacy and poverty of the grower. The Horticulture Department of major Mango growing areas, will keep certain amount during the season, to purchase the mangoes directly from the grower and sell them to the buyers, keeping very little margin. Even then less than 25% will reach the Government owned Societies. The Government in Karnataka, is organising the " Mango Melas " during the season, where the grower can sell their produce directly to both the whole sellers and consumers. This again for a short period, depending upon the amount of grant.

It is very difficult to calculate the contribution given by mango cultivation to GDP. Only detail available is Foreign exchange earned, through Export.

As the awareness is growing among the cultivators, every thing should come under, proper management shortly.
