Question:

Is the media playing the "blame it on a black man game" for the recent SUV murder in Toronto?

A story circulating the Toronto media says that most likely suspect in the SUV murders was a "black man" who was mostly likely angry that two "rich boys" were in "area."

The articles also report that the SUV was near "Ontario Housing Projects"

Is this "fair" reporting?

How do Blacks feel when they read stuff like this?

  1. I don't know, but the fact is most drug sellers on the streets are Black. I live in Toronto Housing downtown, so I know what I speak.

  2. That the shooter was African-American and riding a bike is what witnesses have told the police. As such reporting that it was a "black man" is expected. It is a fact of the case and skin colour is actually a very important characteristic when putting out a description of a suspect.

As for what motivated the shooting the original report was that it was an attempted car-jacking. This was based on the fact that the SUV was a luxury brand and that the victims and suspect had no previous interaction. After speaking to witnesses the motive was changed from a car-jacking to a respect shooting. According to witnesses the drivers did something to disrespect the suspect. I think it would be naive to not assume socio-economic factors had an impact on this. Young men driving around in a $90k+ SUV in a poor neighbourhood is going to draw some flack from locals with chips on their shoulders.

While I understand the frustration of individuals who fit the demographic of the suspect but who find the suspect's behaviour unacceptable that doesn't change the facts which is what the media is reporting.

  3. i read the news a lot and for that story are  youre refering to the one on june 13? thats the only one i can find...and i never got the impression they were 'playing that game' ...

  4. A further bit of info.............

The third person in the car, who was not wounded, and was sitting in the back seat ALSO identified the shooter as a "black male early 20 's " .

The scene is less than 120 metres from a public housing complex, so that is a fact , not an opinion. Another fact is that many of the people being killed  l by gunfire   in Toronto are black, male and young.  And the pople being charged with these shootings are also  young black males. Is that a opinion ? , No it is a fact.

How do  blacks feel about it  ? I don't know, I'm not black.

    Jim B. Toronto.

  5. I was not aware that there was an SUV murder in TO. I am sorry for the victims and their families.
